Re: Lxpanel tray icons bugging out
One of the beauties of LXDE is components for the most part are not integrated. So install a different panel. I like fbpanel: http://lxlinux.com/fbpanel.html.

Re: Taskbar flashes then disappears upon login
LXDE is a minimally integrated system, which means most components are independent and can be replaced. So just replace the lxpanel with a different panel. I recommend http://lxlinux.com/fbpanel.html. Or install stalonetray, which I think includes a taskbar.

Re: new user with a few questions
You should have a hidden configuration file in your home directory for idesk: ~/ideskrc . If you don't, sample idesk files should be in /usr/share/idesk/default.lnk , or just copy the one at http://idesk.sourceforge.net/html/usage.htmll . In .ideskrc, change transparency: 100 to transparency: 0 . I ...

Re: is LXDE dead?
Developers do not do much anymore with lxde because it isn't fun for them, which does not mean it is dead or dieing. Lxde, or just an openbox-pcmanfm system (lxde without lxsession), is already essentially perfect for what it is designed to be, namely, a very fast, lightweight, basic (no frills), st...

Re: new user with a few questions
i put a path into the script but the desktop icon doesn't show up. i see the setting to set the icon size, though, it doesn't seem to do anything. Each icon (desktop launcher) is associated with a .lnk file in ~/.idesktop . You have to use your text editor to make these. They will faithfully make t...

Re: new user with a few questions
Quite often something that appears to be difficult at the start becomes the easiest way with familiarity. To learn about idesk, you do not have to read the complete link that I referenced. Just read the 2 or 3 paragraphs related to idesk. You do have to put idesk and pcmanfm --desktop-off in place o...

Re: new user with a few questions
It seems to me you should go with a desktop that isn't so forceful in what it requires of the user. I recommend just going with an openbox-pcmanfm set-up. Then you can configure your desktop your way. See http://lxlinux.com/ for guidance. In particular, you can use idesk to position icons by coordin...

Je ne sais pas quel est votre problème. Pourriez-vous donner plus de détails? Mon français est minime.
