Menu's close every 3 seconds

I've installed the latest version of lxde-meta from an updated ports collection in a clean install of PCBSD 8.1.

All works well except the menu's, both the "start menu" (sorry for the Windows terminology) and also when I tried to add applications to the what's it called, next to this start menu, the small icons for starting i.e. pcmanfm or a webbrowser (in a default install).

When I open i.e. the internet menu, I see the items in it but after a few seconds it closes the menu. The close has a defined frequency to it, when I open it on the right moment I have 3 or 4 seconds, on the wrong moment it will close right away.

Does anyone have a clue what steps I can take to try and resolve this issue?

Kind regards, Dave

In almost every case the proper first step is to contact your distro for help, rather than coming here. We have no idea what software version of any relevant component might be in PCBSD. I am not aware that any developer runs a non Linux platform, so there is little chance we will help you in any case.

Thanks for the quick reply.

About relevant components, what part of LXDE takes care of these menu's, would that be lxpanel?
I assume that dependencies of that part might be a good start in looking for the issue for me and in the BSD forum?

By the way, in Ubuntu (10.4) it works flawless and I'm quite happy with it, it seriously outperforms gnome.
