thanks for answering. Well my panel is customized only regarding that i use one color (durchgehende barve-deckend) - middle option...
I use full install 32bit 11.04 on my both computers - shuttle xs35gtv2 and dell mini 9 with the same lxpanel setup. So, maybe the problem is that i use "only icons" option for open apps list, or maybe that i don not use system color.
And it is full frozen only lxpanel - menu icon, mail - nothing is working, but i can launch apps from cairo-dock.
Could you please re-attach the screenshot? I can't see anything clearly. Thanks!

LXPanel freezes

Post by GTRsdk »

Is there a difference between the panel being stuck and freezing?

On 11.04 and 11.10, I was unable to do anything with the panel while it was "frozen".

Here is a bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/800297

Yes but perhaps I didn't make myself clear :)

If the Menu got frozen, you can NOT do anything unless logout or reboot.
If the Menu got stuck, you still can do whatever you want but the Menu is stuck (opened).

I had the 2nd case when the menu got stuck. I already attached a screenshot and problem reported via mailing list to Lubuntu Team.

How it happens:
1- I click to open the menu
2- Make a selection from one of the category, say Graphics > Showwell
3- Program will be opened
4- Usually the menu should disappear after you make the selection but in my case it did not.
5- I have to click on the menu again until it disappears

It happened many times with Lubuntu 11.10 on two test PCs.

Will have a look :)

Thanks!

LXPanel freezes on Debian as well

Post by grin »

Hello, it's nice to revive such an old thread. ;)

It freezes on Debian wheezy, too, and on sid as well. Quite often. All I can provide is some task states, maybe helps. Oh and the "cure" which works is:

Code: Select all

killall lxpanel && lxpanel --profile LXDE &
unless obviously you doesn't have an already opened xterm handy, in which case you're screwed (=restart x). Fortunately

Code: Select all

CTRL-ALT-LEFT/RIGH
usually works to change desktops.

So, it looks like this when frozen:

Code: Select all

stack:[<c102fa76>] enqueue_task_rt+0x1a6/0x1c5
stack:[<c102ac3d>] test_tsk_need_resched+0xa/0x13

CPU run at 100% (one core), and lxpanel is completely unresponsive (whatever I click the stack doesn't change).

Hello. I believe I might have the same (or a similar) problem in Linux Mint 12 LXDE.

From time to time, my Desktop folder icons (the default "Home" and "Computer" icons) fail to open with a left-button double click. I also have a "Directory Menu" in my panel that similarly fails to respond to a left-button single click. At about this time, the widows start trailing when I move them. At least I can access the menu! In fact, the only way I can navigate my system graphically is to go to Menu > Accessories > File Manager.

It doesn't seem like this is a file manager (pcmanfm) problem since I can still use pcmanfm through the Menu > Accessories > File Manager. Maybe the display manager (LXDM) or window manager (Openbox)?

When my system starts this behavior, it get really, really slow. The only solution I have found to date is to restart my computer.

My LM12 LXDE is pretty much a stock installation (i.e., very little tweaking).

Edit: Just posted this issue in its own thread, because I think it might well be different: http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=31657
