Hi and welcome to the lxde forums. All you should have to do is right click the time on the lxpanel and choose digital clock settings. Or you can choose Time and Date under System Tools in the main menu.

'"Digital Clock" Settings' will only allow you choose what to display in the clock. Those options are available here. Mine has %D %I:%M %p %Z which displays the current date in MM/DD/YY format, hours and minutes with a colon in between, AM/PM and the time zone. Note that the spaces are required, to separate the date, time and time zone in the display.

The actual time on the PC is changed in the BIOS.

It sure is nice to be able to see the real posts for a change without wading through all of the spam.

One of the problems I was having on a dual boot Windows 7 and Lubuntu was the clock constantly getting messed up when I would go from one OS to the other. It took me a while to figure out what was happening but I was able to get it right by changing the /etc/default/rcS file. Look for the line that says UTC=yes and change it to UTC=no. You can also make a registry hack in WIndows but this is much easier and accomplishes the same goal.

This has something to do with the BIOS. I was told by a friend who is a Linux engineer, that if the system only has Linux installed, the clock in the BIOS should be set to UTC and Linux will display the correct local time.

If it is a dual-boot system with Windows, then the BIOS clock should be set to the local time.

On my dual-boot systems with the clock set to local time, both Windows and Linux display the correct local time on their respective desktops.

I guess no one uses dpkg-reconfigure tzdata like I do anymore.

Using the Command Line (terminal)

Using the command line, you can use dpkg-reconfigure tzdata.

Open a terminal window by going to Applications>Accessories>Terminal

dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
Follow the directions in the terminal.

But then. I don't Lubuntu.

Wow. Just checked that out. I didn't know that. Hey it works in Lubuntu too. Since you are supposed to learn something new everyday, I learned mine early. Thank you very much. I might add that you have to do that as root, so in Lubuntu you have to use sudo.

My good friend rokytnji, why you didn't try Lubuntu until now? :D

Wish all is ok with you :)
