I am tweaking my father's computer. He is an octogenarian and his eye-sight is not as good as it use to be. He is running Ubuntu 12.04 with LXDE desktop installed. I am doing my testing on my own Lubuntu 13.10 desktop and then using the same techniques to tweak his computer. I am having an issue with a configuration not working completely as expected.
I have downloaded the "ContrastLarge" X11 mouse theme from gnome-look.org
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ ... tent=20568
On my Lubuntu 13.10 install, I downloaded the contents and unzipped the contents to /usr/share/icons/
I replaced /usr/share/icons/contrastlarge/xterm with the "xterm_extra_large" as discussed in the README.
I edited the /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme to read:
[Icon Theme]
Inherits=contrastlarge
After logging out and back in, the changes are as expected and when I use LXTerminal I also have a nice big high contrast cursor.
I can also see the "xterm extra large" cursor when I view the LXAppearance > Mouse Cursor window.
Here is the Problem >> When I try to do the same on my father's computer, the ContrastLarge theme works, however when using LXTerminal the cursor reverts back to the normal "xterm" cursor. Curiously, the "xterm extra large" cursor works when I'm in the log-in screen at the input field. However, when I try to use LXTerminal or other desktop application, like a browser, at the input fields the cursor does not use the "xterm extra large" cursor as expected. I also noticed that unlike my Lubuntu install, "xterm extra large" cursor does not appear in the LXAppearance > Mouse Cursor window. Is there another config file I can use to make this stick?
