I just switched from Xubuntu to Lubuntu. So far, I find the UI better and the machine seems a tad faster, so I am mostly happy. However, there is one problem. On Xubuntu, I got 1440x900 display just by going to preferences & moving a slider. On Lubuntu, the slider only goes to 1280x800.
Machine is Dell Vostro 1500 with 2 GHz Core 2 Duo. The earlier model with a Celeron CPU use Intel GMA X3100 for graphics, but I've been unable to find a spec for what this one uses. The preferences/display popup says it sees a "DVI monitor". xvinfo(1) says "Nouveau GeForce 8/9 Textured Video".
How do I fix this?
Resolution on Dell Vostro
Re: Resolution on Dell Vostro
I built a Xububtu install disk & ran Xubuntu from it. That also limits me to 1280x800 and xvinfo(1) says it is using a nouveau driver. The previous Xubuntu install, which had been there for a couple of years & through a few distro upgrades, gave me 1440 and I have no idea which driver it used.
