Hello,
On a brand new EeePC 2G Surf, pressing Fn + one of the F keys on the top of the keyboard (F1 to F12) allows quick access to essential actions:
F1: Sleep
F2:Wifi On/Off
F3: Darken Screen
F4: Brighten Screen
F5: Monitor connection
F6: <not sure>
F7: Toggle Mute
F8: Volume Down
F9: Volume Up
etc.
How can I make the Fn + F keys usable again on LXDE?
I've installed debian eeepc.
using the shortcut keys (Fn + F1, F2, F3,...F12) on eeepc

It's not a LXDE issue.
I did this to make it work under Mandriva 2009 http://lordikc.free.fr/wordpress/?page_id=402.
Basically you need the eee kernel module and handle ACPI events
