Fresh install - now what

Postby quoque » Mon Nov 23, 2009 10:18 am

I am used to windows/KDE/gnome.

I have an older P.C., so installing LXDE seemed sensible, and the screenshots look good ( http://lxde.org/lxde_desktop ). So I installed the command line version of Ubuntu 9.10 (press F4 when installing from the alternative Ubuntu disc), once that was finished :

apt-get install lxde

after a re-boot and a login I have a blank screen, the right click gives me the ability to run web browser (I installed firefox) and LXTerminal and openconfig and some other things.

So far so good but how do I get a windows/KDE/gnome start bar on the screen? Essentially I would like it to look like the above linked screen shot.

Before you login, choose the LXDE-session from the session menu at the login screen.
