Sounds like that you are using a laptop and you are touching or coming close to a very sensative touch pad. Just turn it off when you are typing.

That's one I haven't tried before; how do you disable the touch pad, if needs be?Rex Bouwense wrote:Sounds like that you are using a laptop and you are touching or coming close to a very sensative touch pad. Just turn it off when you are typing.

Re: mouse problem while typing
I have not tried it because I always move the curser to the margin when I am typing but here is a site that purports to show you How To....

You have to read the whole article because Lubuntu doesn't have a graphic option for disabling the touchpad. At least I couldn't find one.

Hi,
I know you are using Linux Mint LXDE but since Mint LXDE and Lubuntu are a bit close, I hope this will help:

Re: mouse problem while typing
I use touchpad-indicator to disable my touchpad when a mouse is plugged in. Boot the computer with a mouse plugged in and touchpad is disabled. Boot it without a mouse and touchpad is enabled as normal. Some computers will disable the touchpad via a function key combo like Fn + F6 or Fn + F7. Here are instructions if you want to try the touch-pad indicator. I have used it on Lubuntu 11.04, 11.10, 12.04 and LM12 LXDE. Install the software and do a reboot. If you don't have a touchpad indicator after reboot you may need to start it manually by running the command "touchpad-indicator" (without the quotes) or selecting from the menu under accessories. Once you have the indicator on your panel, right click on the indicator and select preferences and make sure autostart is selected. The other settings can be a little confusing. I have the following checked: Autostart, Disable touchpad when mouse plugged, enable touchpad on start, show notifications and icon theme normal.
