i.e. When I mount NTFS volumes (say, a USB drive, so no fstab entry) I want to use particular dmask, fmask and gid options; will I (either through PCManFM or GVFS options(?)) be able to set it so that NTFS volumes are always mounted with these options when I mount them via clicking the volume in the left pane of PCManFM?
This is a must-have, but it's not supported by gvfs. Gvfs hard-coded this part and doesn't allow customization.
Please bug report to gvfs developers in gnome bugzilla. This is a known bug for more than one year, but there is no progress since it's reported in gnome bugzilla.
Due to the limitations and design flaws of gvfs, we only use it temporarily. Later we'll have our own volume management facilities.
One of the related bug I can find:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=586708
There is another one on the gio TODO page on gnome live website.

I posted on the bug you linked to (and also spammed a couple of other, older bugs too that were at least partially related).

It's good to know that eventually, whether the GVFS developers do or don't implement this, the functionality will be available through a volume management system developed for LXDE. Keep up the good work PCMan and team, and thank you for the many great pieces of software. :)

Problems compiling on pclinuxos 2010 lxde

A lot of the PCLOS files are too old for your program. But I have downloaded and installed gtk+2.20 and glib2 2.24, Now Menu-cache 0.3.2 compiles and installs OK.

I then downloaded the tarball of pcmanfm 0.9.4 (which I believe also contains libfm 0.1.10??)

But when I try to ./configure. it reports:

Code: Select all

checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for XLIB... configure: error: Package requirements ("x11") were not met:
No package 'x11' was found
Synaptic shows dozens of x11 files installed.

I have also tried downloading libfm separately but I get the same error

Can you help me?

Thanks

Sorry - don't see a link to a screen shot, or to the tarball - can you post?

EDIT: Ooops - sorry did not see these on page 1. My bad.

Just to let you know I have tried install the latest version of pcman 0.9 on an uptodate copy of lxde as per your invite above but still get the same errors on install as I posted above a few weeks ago. I never got a reply but know you are very busy. Not sure where else to post it as it is not really a bug.

Here is the install command I used (as per the README):

Code: Select all

[root@gateway pcmanfm-0.9.5]# ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc

It starts off fine then gives this "x11" error:

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables XLIB_CFLAGS
and XLIB_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

[root@gateway pcmanfm-0.9.5]#

I have searched about in this forum and on google but nothing very relevant turns up.

Can you/anybody help?

"Better wallpaper support" - Can you elaborate on this please? Does this mean we can finally get 4 different wallpapers in gnome? Because that would be awesome.

Is IEC support(Mib,Gib) gone for good?
I can't work with those stupid decimal units.

You can still use IEC units. Just untick the option in

Updated packages are now in the testing section of pclinuxos repos however I have not got mount working despite following the explicit instructions on the lxde wiki. This gvfs stuff is a real pain in the you know what!
