sorry this kinda sounds dumb.
I have never used LXDE before. My teacher wants us to use it in class. I downloaded the usb version for intel, and try to boot up from it and it wont work. Any ideas?

What you downloaded? The "Debian Live USB Image" (from http://lxde.org/download?) If so, sounds like you have just copied the .img file to the thumb... I think you must dd it
* amd64 not restricts to AMD: it is for Intel Core2+ processors too ("amd64" is only a bad name )

Hi,
you can't just copy an image to your stick, you have to dd it, as fbobraga said. It's more easy, if you choose an distribution and use they're Live images and then install LXDE. The LXDE Live images aren't that up2date, AFAIK.
