Network Monitor / Connections Applet/Program

Hello,
I've just switched from the original OS on the eeepc to debian-eeepc. I was wondering what I need to be able to log on to WiFi when I got to public places like coffee shops or airports. Is there some sort of applet/program that will help with this?

An applet/program that will remember SSIDs and passwords.
