Re: Disable smooth scrolling in PCManFM
You may already know this, pcmanfm used GTK2 libraries and is ~EOL; the developer (pcman) ported it GTK3 but it was slower & heavier (GTK3 is), so it was then ported to Qt5 where pcmanfm-qt is currently. This is not true per se. The GTK3 version of pcmanfm is alive and well and not at all slowe...

Re: installing LXDE on BodhiLinux Topic is solved
If you really like the old Lubuntu, I'd recommend BunsenLabs . It's a polished Openbox distro based on Debian. Just add LXDE and you have old Lubuntu. But the result then won't be polished anymore. In that case I'd rather recommend installing Debian proper, and opting for an LXDE desktop. If you li...

Re: Screen blanks every couple of the seconds ?
OK, first of all undo what you did to xscreensaver.
Then, after logging out/in, we need some output:
How did you install GNOME and LXDE?
Are you using some power management software? Which one?
Then, after logging out/in, we need some output:
Code: Select all
xset q
cat /etc/systemd/logind.conf
systemd-inhibit
ps aux|grep -i power
ps aux|grep -i screensaver
Are you using some power management software? Which one?

Re: Screen freezes on Thinkpad E575 (AMD chipset) Topic is solved
Great you solved it! Just one remark: it's usually recommended to put individual config files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d. So what you'd do is to remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf, because Xorg really should be able to figure out its own configuration create a new file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/something.conf put on...

Re: Screen freezes on Thinkpad E575 (AMD chipset) Topic is solved
- top shows nothing untoward afaics, so it's not a simple performance problem, or one app acting up
- consider what I wrote about kernel versions
- check the debian wiki link about ATI
- add to that https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ATI and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AMDGPU

Re: Screen freezes on Thinkpad E575 (AMD chipset) Topic is solved
When you say that Cinnamon works fine - is that on the same operating system install, or a different one (dual boot)? I assume it's the same, which makes your problem likely to be higher-level than installing a driver or newer kernel. I specifically asked to "reproduce the kernel, ssh in "...

Re: open lxterminal -> execude command -> not in history
^ Yes it looks normal. I'm alittle confused now; are you saying you wrote a script that does not work as expected? Show us the script? Is this how you're executing it: lxterminal -e "/home/andi/Scripts/run_cmd.sh '/home/andi/Scripts/run_cmd.sh'; bash" ??? That might pose some problems wrt ...

Re: Screen freezes on Thinkpad E575 (AMD chipset) Topic is solved
Have you looked at the journal? journalctl -b for everything from this boot. Launch each application from the command line and see if you see some relevant info. Reproduce the problem, ssh in and provide the following output: top -n3 lspci -k | grep -iEA5 'vga|3d|display' uname -rmv This should be a...
