Re: LXDE on machines with more than one desktop

I have run LXDE without PCmanfm controlling the desktop. When PCmanfm controls the desktop you can drop/create icons on that desktop, with no desktop control you lose that option (unless you install another program to do that job). Personally I like a clear desktop and have no icons at all ... which...

Re: LXDE on machines with more than one desktop

Just a suggestion, not really tried it myself, but .desktop files can include a OnlyShowIn or a NotShowIn line/value. Something like NotShowIn=GNOME;KDE;XFCE; or OnlyShowIn=KDE; I've not seen one for LXDE; however so I can't say if LXDE will correctly parse that ??? Most dynamic menus tend to be bui...

Re: Any plans on updating LX [panel/start] menu design?

Another nice (dynamical) menu showing just "Categories", which comes free with pcmanfm, is the pcmanfm applications menu. You can put a panel launcher for it by using "exec=pcmanfm menu://applications Nice! I've added it as just a 'A' label at the bottom of my (mostly icons only) menu

Re: Any plans on updating LX [panel/start] menu design?

the Internet literature on Openbox is huge. I've put up on my website ( http://lxlinux.com ) stuff that has crossed my path, but that only scratches the surface Thanks seppalta, got a dead link until I noticed the hhtp mistake. Great web page. Thanks. (I've only skim read it so far, bookmarked it t...

Re: Any plans on updating LX [panel/start] menu design?

Look for obmenu in your repositories, that's a openbox menu editor. I'm constrained by Debian Jessie to be running a older version, so I usually use obmenu to build the main structure, but then manually edit the ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml file to put in the icon links. For instance for one item (lxt...

Re: Any plans on updating LX [panel/start] menu design?

Is there any way I can replace this "component" or at least make it more functional? LXDE is pretty separated, lxappearance, lxinput, lxpanel ...etc can all be run individually on top of openbox ... or not. If you switched out lxpanel for Xfce's panel then that has a whisker menu choice ....

Re: Any plans on updating LX [panel/start] menu design?

Try creating a openbox menu with just icons seppalta. For a single layer it looks quite nice - a column of icons to choose from. When there are further layers/sub menus ... not so good as you have a arrow pointer to the sub menu alongside the column of icons. I have the menu pop up by default when t...

Re: Issue with autofs and user permission when running LXDE

I use /etc/fstab also, and for NTFS I have to add the permissions option otherwise I can't set the permissions using chmod on NTFS folders/files

Code: Select all

/dev/sda3 /mnt/sda3 ntfs-3g permissions,locale=en_GB.utf8 0 2
