Re: Revisiting LXDE

I've followed the LXQT project for a long time but didn't install until Lubuntu first included it as an option. I absolutely hate it. I've used Lubuntu LXDE for about two years, always uninstalling a lot of the default software. Eventually I figured out how I can go even more minimal creating my ow...

Revisiting LXDE

Hello, After not using LXDE for a really long time, I found myself getting exposed to it again when I decided to reformat my Kali USB with the latest image. It then occurred to me that LXDE is still probably one of the nicest desktop environments around, despite my aversion for it and LXQt's ascensi...

Lubuntu swithcing to LXQt

Infrastructure and Project Changes Lubuntu is switching to LXQt for 18.10 This is a huge change we have been planning for years, and we're finally doing it. Simon Quigley, Lubuntu's Release Manager, broke the news on the Ask Noah Show and Softpedia Linux wrote an article the next day. We've receive...

New menu plugin?

Hello, I know I've beaten this topic to death, but I'm really starting to get bothered. I'm trying to wrap my head around why the default specification for the menu plugin is so lacking. :| Is the reason it can't be modified due to openbox being severely limited in what the user can add/modify? Just...

it is possible to write plugins for lxpanel.
Thank-you. 8-)

Just to clarify however, there's absolutely no way to alter the styling of the menu even when making the menu from scratch?

The only way would be to fork it somehow?

sure.
you can fork lxpanel and add a menu styling section.
I'm not gonna lie, that sounds amazing.

Create new menu for LXPanel?

Is it possible to create a new menu from scratch and import it into the LXPanel?

I notice there's a way to add stuff in one of the configuration/settings menus.

Would it be possible?

If it is, would it be bound to the limitations set by openbox?

Re: File for styling the menu component?

the menu xml files define the content. not the style. the style is gtk (gtk2 most likely for lxde). you can adjust it in your current gtk theme, but i don't think you can adjust only the panel menu - it will have an effect on the rest of your desktop style. Hypothetically, can there be some way to ...
