I'm sure you are right but only if it works Also, as I understand it, it still does not allow you to read files on a network which surely is a "must have" facility for most people?

Updated packages are now in the testing section of pclinuxos repos however I have not got mount working despite following the explicit instructions on the lxde wiki. This gvfs stuff is a real pain in the you know what! +1 I gave up on this software after numerous failed attempts to get it to run at...

Just to let you know I have tried install the latest version of pcman 0.9 on an uptodate copy of lxde as per your invite above but still get the same errors on install as I posted above a few weeks ago. Problems compiling on pclinuxos 2010 lxde A lot of the PCLOS files are too old for your program. But I have downloaded and installed gtk+2.20 and glib2 2.24, Now Menu-cache 0.3.2 compiles and installs OK. I then downloaded the tarball of pcmanfm 0.9.4 (which I believe also contains libfm 0.1.10??) B...

OK - think I have sorted this. I opened the PCLinuxOS Control Centre (PCC) in the main menu. In there is an option to "Manage System Services". Here you can enable smb to run and to run on boot.

At the moment I am manually opening a terminal, switching to root and typing /etc/init.d/smb start (or /usr/bin/samba start). Obviously this only lasts until I reboo...
