My apologies. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1.

I didn't go directly to Ubuntu's website because most Ubuntu users use GNOME. I was using the netbook edition on my laptop before switching to LXDE.

I'll check on Ubuntu's site before posting in this thread again.

Strange slowdown on startup

This is not critical, but it is aggravating, especially considering how fast LXDE was opening at first. After the login, the panel with all the related icons are displayed almost immediately and are usable. However, it sometimes takes as long as 30 seconds for the desktop wallpaper and desktop files...

You were right, there were stray .desktop files in .local/share/applications. I wonder: Why didn't PCMan find them when I searched? (I did a search for .desktop files in / and checked the box for hidden files) In any case, after the reboot, the menu entries are now gone. :) Thank you, not only for y...

I removed Totem and Rhythmbox from my Acer Aspire One, since I now use Exaile and VLC. However, their icons still remain in the main start menu.
