I assume you are using pcmanfm and right clicking on a folder and then selecting Open in Terminal. When I do this I cannot re-produce the error you describe, what version of pcmanfm and lxterminal or what terminal are you using?

Hello I have a dual monitor setup with Fedora 15 and lxde and really the only issue I have ran into is when using lxdm. GTK is not one monolithic thing that you have to take all of. It is split into several libraries, that you would use or not. So its either gonna be hack out the stuff lxde does not need, create own lxde libs and such or switch toolkits.

I beleive you have to use the ewmh hooks, that will get the panel to show what is running. I just read some postings about that with the xfce panels so maybe the same thing will work with xmonad and lxpanel.
