Re: Newly Created User Account has LogOff button but no Shutdown
Well, I dont know what distro you are using, Gentoo at least has the file /etc/conf.d/xdm to configure your login manager. It could be written in there.

Re: LXDE too slow
I am using LXDE on a Pentium-MMX 300Mhz with 64MB Ram and some Neomagic card. It runs quite well, if I dont start any 2D (or even 3D) games. That is with any high customized Gentoo, so maybe other things are slowing your pc.

I had the same problems using slim as login manager, while it was working with gdm. But somehow later it worked in slim, too. What login manager are you using?

Re: Gnome Volume Control
I have not heard that gnome-panel plugins are compatible to lxde panel. Lxde panel does not ship gnome deps.
You could write your own plugin are bind some keys to the micro volume. xbindkeys is quite good at it.

I the GUI is not working you could try xrander. xrandr --output VGA|TMDS-1(for DVI) --mode RESxRES --output TV --mode RESxRES --left-of|--right-of|--a...

Re: DualScreen Problem
I would try HAL one time. Some move your xorg.conf files somewhere and run hal (if not autostarted) (/etc/init.d/hald start) and look what happens. Nowadays autodetect is nearly capable of catching all situations right.
