Re: "Boxy" Buttons
Okay, I think I got it working... For the benefit of any "Arch"-ers that come along after me, here's the page that had the answer: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GTK%2B#GTK.2B_1.x I installed the package "gtk-smooth-engine" (as recommended), and that seemed to have made the...

Re: "Boxy" Buttons
That would work--but "Clearlooks" doesn't appear in my "Customize Look & Feel" (lxappearance). I went to box-look.org and downloaded a "clearlooks-light", and applied it using the "OpenBox Configuration Manager"--but it (as everything has so far) only chan...

Re: "Boxy" Buttons
I have poked around there... downloaded a couple of themes. They changed the title bar, etc...but the buttons retained the boxy look I'm not lovin'...

Re: "Boxy" Buttons
Well, GTK2 is already installed on this system...so either I'm not using it properly, or that's not the problem. I'm hip to the 'speed' argument--but it would be nice to understand what makes it look the way it does, and how to change it (and if that's even possible)... ![Cool 8-)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

Re: "Boxy" Buttons
Yeah, I found that...but it isn't changing the shape of the buttons--just colors and text and such... ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)
I have a weird feeling that it might be a GTK / GTK 2 thing? (I don't really know much about that.) Maybe GTK(1) is boxy like this??

"Boxy" Buttons
Hey, guys. Brand-new to LXDE. Just installed LXDE on my old Dell Inspiron|1100 lappie (under Arch). So far, so good... I notice that the window buttons ("Close", "Apply" , etc) are all very "boxy"--straight edges, sharp corners, etc... Is there a way to change their app...

Re: Adding a Volume Control
I figured it out. The panel menu was confusing me a little... I thought the Panel Applets tab was showing me what was available to add--but it's showing what's already on the panel.. Just to remind me (or anyone in the future that might have the same question: Right-click panel Add/Remove Panel Item...

Adding a Volume Control
I'm brand new to LXDE, and my first impression is, "Wow! Looks great!" 8-) I want to add a volume control to the panel. When I right-click on the panel, I don't see an applet for volume control. Is it a plugin I have to add, or...? If so, where do I get it, and how do I install it? What ot...
