I ran sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg per http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/04/30/how-to-increase-the-screen-resolutions-available-to-ubuntu-while-running-in-parallels-for-os-x/ (or a similar page since I had to logout) and this increased the login screen resolution to where I see everything ...

For some reason, the login screen resolution is so low that all I see is the user name and password prompts. How can I increase the login screen resolution to see the other buttons?

Uninstalling LXDE
I tried out LXDE on my Ubuntu 8.10 system but now I want to go back to the default Gnome desktop. I went into Synaptic and uninstalled LXDE but it didn't revert back. What to I need to do? Thanks.
