Re: Winning Windows Users Over

Most people have no idea what operating system they are using. They just use whatever is loaded. What is really funny now days is to see a Windows user try to install a Linux program.

Re: lxde-sid a lightweight iso

Got it. This is really polished. Nice job. So, how can I pull it apart? I looked for a filesystem.squashfs but there isn't one. My guess is that it is bound in the initrd.img. Sorry, it's an incurable disease; I have to look. :geek:

Re: lxde-sid a lightweight iso

Hey, I missed this. I'm downloading it now. Thanks.

LXDE is the best desktop for a live-CD because it's so lightweight. I think there should be a Forum category for LXDE live-CDs.

Re: Scribus not in LXmenu?

Are you now running Debian? If so, run # updatedb That will update the Debian menu. As to the LXDE menu, you will have to edit it. Maybe someone here knows how to add the Debian menu to the LXDE menu which will permanently solve that problem. I don't let PCManfm run my desktop and prefer the Openbox...

Re: How does one customize the live-CD?

I now have the audio-video working. To make it work I had to extract the squashed filesystem move the package into the extracted filesystem chroot into the extracted filesystem export LC_ALL=C install the package using dpkg or whatever squash the filesystem And put it all back together. This has bec...

Re: live-CD no video no audio

I got it working. I think I may have been trying to use the wrong package. This one works: install_flash_player_10_linux.deb . I found it on Adobe's site.

Re: How does one customize the live-CD?

I'm beginning to make progress with this. I've replaced the opening splash.png and altered the backgrounds. Iceweasel now has my configuration and bookmarks. Some of the /etc files have been changed. First, I made a directory on my hard drive called /lxde. Then I booted the CD and made all the chang...

What about testing a real sound/video file with a player?
Flash is ever causing problems with GNU/Linux.
Flash 10 works beautifully on my Debian Squeeze but that's not the point. What I want to know is, how do I make the video and audio work on the live CD which I downloaded from this site?

Re: How does one customize the live-CD?

I played a bit with Remastersys but it doesn't lead where I want to go. I want to change the defaults in the live-CD so that it mimics what it would do if I installed it to my hard drive. Basically, I want to have a portable Debian-Lxde all set up with my Iceweasel settings, bookmarks, etc. This sho...
