Re: Which distros work best with LXDE?

If it hasn't been mentioned before, because of its small imprint, Lxde is a natural for live-CDs. That download on the front page is a good place to start. I've used it as a basis for customizing.

Re: pcmanfm - no thumbnails, no gpicview

Thank you somebody. A fresh pcmanfm just came down through the Debian Squeeze repository and it works properly. There must have been a conflict somewhere.

Yes, but it doesn't remember anymore. Each and every time I have to go through the same process.

Re: pcmanfm - no thumbnails, no gpicview

PCManFM is behaving so poorly that I have had to install Thunar. I will continue to use Thunar until I can find an answer to this problem.

Which icon theme is preferred? I'm using Tango which was working well.

pcmanfm - no thumbnails, no gpicview

My PCmanFM has stopped working properly. It no longer does thumbnails. All JPGs are now represented by a gear. Clicking a gear brings up a virus scanner; I have to manually enter gpicview. I'm sure this is some configuration on my machine that has to be fixed. Can someone tell me where? Debian, Open...

Re: Rethink LXPanel 0.5.0+ ..please

Saying "it's too intrusive" doesn't help me understand specifically what we could change that would make you like it better. Marty, I'm really not your target audience. I'm the guy with the stripped down window manager and no eye candy, unless one gets excited by a transparent Conky displ...

Re: Rethink LXPanel 0.5.0+ ..please

It's not a show stopper except for LXPanel. One of the delights of LXDE is that the components function individually as well as together. Thus, we can pick and choose. I came to LXDE by way of PCManfm which is a terrific file manager. I added several other LX components. (I was already using Openbox...

Re: Rethink LXPanel 0.5.0+ ..please

shiki08, I agree with you. LXPanel is one of the reasons I don't go fully LXDE on my base Debian/Openbox system. I don't want an imitation Windows panel complete with a START button menu. Instead I use Pypanel (set transparent) which is much less intrusive.

Re: Clearing Recent opened files

Those are hidden files. They have a . in front of them. In a terminal do ls -al. In pcmanfm check the box which says show hidden files. That said, individual programs have their own means to erase their history. For Firefox, I would suggest you visit Uwe Hermann He will show you how to make FF more ...
