Running Debian Sid here. I'm not aware of an LXDE applet for that, but for a USB thumb drive, you can open PCManFM, highlight the thumb drive under Places, right-click and there is an option Eject Removable Media.

This forum is for LXDE, the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment, not the LXD virtual machine manager.

Yes, LXDE is available with Ubuntu, install using Synaptic or via command line.

Yes. Any desktop manager, SDDM, LightDM, etc. will login to an LXDE session. There will be a pull-down list on the login screen where LXDE can be selected and that selection stays persistent between sessions or logins, until you change it.

LXLE is LXDE-specific and is based on Ubuntu LTS. https://lxle.net
