OK, well, I blocked them with Adblock. Not the way I would have preferred but ....

I don't want to block them completely, they have a purpose, but if I've already seen them I'd prefer that they were hidden.

Is there a way to get rid of the announcements at the top of every forum page? Can I mark them as "read" so they'll go away? I've either read them or are aware that they exist. Either way, I'm no longer interested in them. They take up most of the screen leaving new posts and / or topics l...
