Re: Desktop folder icons, panel directory menu, not respondi

I've seen the failure to respond when clicking on a desktop icon, but not the slowdown. Sometimes the desktop icons call vanish. It often (but not always) occurs when unmounting a USB flash drive. When the problem does occur, I open a run dialog, kill any runing instance of pcmanfm, and run pcmanfm ...

Re: root-menu with left mouse button?

I can tell you that it doesn't work in Fedora 17-branched either (openbox-3.5.0-5.fc17.x86_64)

Re: Desktop as home dir

Why not just remove ~Desktop then create a Desktop as a symlink to your home directory?

Re: Ending LXDE by Keyboard

Since the logout icon on my system executes /usr/bin/lxde-logout, which is a shell script containing a single line:

Code: Select all

lxsession-logout --banner "/usr/share/pixmaps/fedora-logo-small.png" --side=top
You could create an openbox keyboard shortcut to execute either program.

Re: 100% cpu usage with lxdm-binary

Had this problem with Fedora - fixed in lxdm-0.4.1-1. Don't know if it's been fixed in Ubuntu yet.

Re: Very large spacing in the system tray

Looks like you've got stretched spacers in there. Right-click on the panel, then PanelSettings->PanelApplets and adjust your spacers as you see fit.

Re: lxrandr resolution problem

You may need to create a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with the appropriate modeline in the monitor section and the appropriate mode in the screen section. Use the gtf command to get the modeline you need - for example, for 1280x800 @ 60 Hz, I get the following: ~$ gtf 1280 800 60 # 1280x800 @ 60.0...

Re: Accessing files & icons on Desktop

Perhaps you need to tell the filemanager (pcmanfm) to manage the desktop Press <Alt>-D2 to open a run dialog and enter the following: pcmanfm --desktop If that works, make sure that ~/$HOME/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/pcmanfm.conf includes a desktop section. I've included the desktop section of mine below ...

Re: print to file creates erroneous pdf files

I ran into that problem a while back with Fedora (not sure which version) - my so-called pdf files were unreadable by xpdf, yet fully readable using evince. My thought at the time was that perhaps what's being created is a postscript file rather than a true pdf. I did not try reading those files und...

Re: Fedora 15 minimal install with LXDE and vnc

You could try installing the LXDE spin and then removing whatever you don't need - it should be possible to get down below 2GB. By the time I strip out what I don't need and add what I want (including the GIMP, Java, GRAMPS, and DevHelp) my Fedora LXDE installations weigh in somewhere around 3.2 GB).
