Re: which distribution with lxde
I can't seem to find the article that gives instructions on how to create a script to rotate the wallpaper so I will try to give you instructions here. ... Snip, snip, snip ... #!/bin/bash #Script n=10 while [ $n -le 10 ] do sleep 3m && NUMBER=$[ ( $RANDOM % 5 ) + 1 ] pcmanfm --set-wallpape...

Re: Conky doesn't "stick" on my desktop :(
I got Conky to work! Woo-Hoo! Okay, I did not figure it out all on my own. A buddy of mine had a go at it; he's better at Conky stuff than I am. It still took him a bit of messing about to get it done, but here's what he came up with: You have to comment out or delete this line if it's in your .conk...

Re: Desktop icon issues
I would like to change the displayed name of one or two icons but cannot find a way to do it. I want to add a desktop icon pointing at a string. eg. "/usr/bin/firefox" 127.0.0.1:631 This points to cups, but again cannot see how to do it in LXDE. I am running PCLinuxOS by the way. I figure...

Re: Conky doesn't "stick" on my desktop :(
I don't use Conky but here is some information. It appears that the original poster got Conky to work but sacrificed PCManFM in the process. I'm not sure if that is what you want. :? What exactly do you want Conky to do for you? I just wanted the Conky display to stay in place and be part of the de...

[SOLVED] Conky doesn't "stick" on my desktop :(
Hi there! I'm just having a little bit of a problem with using Conky on my Lubuntu 11.10 desktop. It just won't stay for long. Now if I run Conky thusly: :~$ conky It does work and show up on my desktop. However , as soon as I click on anything at all on the desktop, the Conky display disappears! Is...

( snip, snip, snip … ) This is the only script that I could manage to get working of several posted here. It wasn't too difficult even for a novice...

Re: which distribution with lxde
Lubuntu 11.10 is my choice and I have tried a bunch of them. A pure LXDE without all of the gnome 2 garbage you have left over when installing LXDE over another *buntu. The speed differential on a netbook is amazing when you compare Win7 and Lubuntu running on the same machine. WIn7 uses over half ...

Re: which distribution with lxde
I'm using Lubuntu 11.10 on my laptop.
No complaints, really.
I need to sort out a few "tweaks" for my own likes, but that's not a big deal.

I'll check that out and see if that does the trick.
I just got home from an all-nighter at work, so I'll try it after a kip.
Thanks!
