Re: GDM option for Lubuntu 10.04
In Fedora, /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf controls autologin - looks like it's CLI only.

Re: "Boxy" Buttons
Nothing like distro-specific division of package components to complicate things - Fedora supplies the needed components in gtk2-engines.

Re: Problem changing window manager
Not sure about Lubuntu, but on my system (Fedora LXDE spin) both lxsession-edit (the Advanced Options tab) and ~/.config/lxsession/LXDE/desktop.conf both show the wm as openbox-lxde. Interestingly, changing the wm in lxsession-edit does not change the wm in ~/.config/lxsession/LXDE/desktop.conf.

Re: LXPanel items stopped working
I've seen two instances of nm-applet from time to time as I check out various distros. It's definitely not just an Ubuntu thing. The problem seems to occur only when I start out with a desktop other than LXDE and then try to install LXDE. My best guess is that it's due to nm-applet.desktop showing u...

Re: Transparency shows incorrect background
Also, I notice that if the LXTerminal window is in front of another window, the transparency shows the desktop background, rather than the window behind it. Is this normal behavior? You're seeing the desktop background because lxterminal is faking the transparency. To get true transparency, you nee...

Re: Problems installing from USB to CF (4gb)
I've installed Fedora LXDE spin to a 4GB SD card without problems; in fact I did it about a week ago with the F16 pre-beta. I do a custom partitioning - no lvm, using the whole card, formatted ext4 for / (the root filesystem), no swap. Works great! FWIW, here'sthe output I get running df on the SD c...

Re: Magical disappearing desktop
If you're using lxdm (or any other display manager other than gdm, or no display mamager at all) you can get rid of gdmworker201 wrote:Can I get rid of gdm, or do I need it still?

Re: How to edit the logout entry on main menu
In Fedora, the lxde-logout.desktop file causes the execution of the script /usr/bin/lxde-logout which executes the binary file l xsession-logout . However, it appears that we're dealing with a translatable string here (I found the file /usr/share/local/usr/share/locale/en_GB/LC_MESSAGES/lxsession.mo...

Re: How to Change LXDM Login Resolution
And in order to make this a complete thread, could you please tell us what should be written inside that file? Whatever works ;) As root, run Xorg -configure :1 This will create the file /root/xorg.conf.new . Ideally, one should just be able to copy this to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restart X (or rebo...
