Install and use Idesk (http://lxlinux.com/#2). Then you can place and hold desktop icons anywhere you like.

Re: Application Menu problems

What do you mean: "I couldn't follow the link"? The link will not be active until June 1st, so up to tomorrow, there should be nothing to follow.

Are you saying that the menu does not show any categories? Have you tried "lxpanelctl restart" or "lxpanelctl menu" in the terminal?

Re: Application Menu problems

It is a dynamical menu and should populate itself with the applications in the various application directories. But there is a lot you can do with changing the form of the menu. Details can be found at http://lxlinux.com/menucategoryconfig.html after May 31. Sorry, bandwidth quota for May has been e...

Re: Problem with .desktop files with version 1.3.0

Clicking any .desktop file set to execute will bring up the "execute" box, which is designed to offer you other choices than launching the app. Launching is available this way, but is not the normal way to launch applications. Usually apps are launched from menus, for which an "execute" box does not...

Re: mount devtmpfs on ~/test cause device item in side pane?

I think if you just right click on the undesirable entry and click "Eject Removable Media" will get rid of it for at least that session. General mounting controls for Pcmanfm can be reached by clicking: Edit>Preferences>Volume Management. Here you can choose to show "all" or "none". If you want some...

Re: mount devtmpfs on ~/test cause device item in side pane?

Perhaps you could post an image so that we would know better what you are asking. The directories (places) listed on the pcmanfm left panel can be controlled by checking the boxes offered up in (starting in pcmanfm header bar): Edit > Preferences > Layout.

Re: LXDE and LXQt

It is only Lubuntu that has committed to changing to LXQT. There are many other LXDE distros. Add to this that there are many of us that use a "PCOB" desktop - just start with PCmanfm and OPenbox. So the idea that LXDE and minimal desktops with independent components are dying is far from true. Acti...
