Re: How to add a icon to launch firefox in the desktop?
Another easy way to put icons for your favorite applications on your desktop is to open PCManFM and navigate to /usr/share/applications. Find the icon you want and just drag-and-drop it to the desktop. I don't know what the issue is with the icon for Firefox. Mine is missing too, but the substitute ...

Re: no audio
Where are the audio controls? I don't have any sound as far as I can tell, and I wanted to check to see if it was muted, but there are zero audo controls anywhere so far as I can tell. Use PCManFM to find it in /usr/share/applications . It's probably called "Volume Control." When you open...

Is LXDE "Gnome dependent?"
I love the ease and elegance of LXDE and want to make it my only desktop environment. But in all the minimal installs of Debian and it's derivatives include Gnome stuff. So my question is: Can I safely uninstall Gnome, or does LXDE depend on Gnome or some of it's components? Must I keep what I'm not...

Re: Which distros work best with LXDE?
They are actually working on an LXDE edition of Ubuntu ("Lubuntu") but I have no idea how long it may take. Some of the same team members are also working on an LXDE-based community edition for Linux Mint as well.

Re: no audio
did you manage to solve that problem? I would like to know the solution as I am having the same problem. I was offered some solutions that didn't work, or caused new problems. I figure it's some li'l bug in Ubuntu 9.04 I think, one that may be solved simply by some update. I'm content to "un-m...

Can I Add a Calendar?
I wonder if there is a way to have a calendar displayed on top of my wallpaper? I'd like to have something "layered" on top of it instead of searching for calendar desktop wallpapers every month... just wondering if there is a way to do that.
Thanks!

Re: LXDE Group on Linux.com
I joined the LXDE group and two others on Linux.com. Linux.com, I'm told, has long been a dull, inactive site. But they must have some new management or something, because the site looks great now, and it's plenty busy. Y'all come on out and have a look!

Re: no audio
Thanks! I'll post the question on Ubuntu forums too. I've been bragging like crazy there about how fast and simple LXDE is! Thanks again for an awesome DE.

Re: no audio
Most likely the audio is muted. Debug it using alsamixer. I'm having a similar problem. Sound works fine on boot-up, then "auto-defaults" to mute. The first thing I do when the desktop appears is to open Volume Control and un-mute it. How can I keep it from "defaulting" to mute ...
