Re: AntiX-23 LXDE = SAFE – Simple AntiX Fast Efficient Pt:2

If you use that command I believe it will install 23.1 including all of the programs that you have thoughtfully un-installed. Thanks Rex – On your advice I will leave my LXDE setup as is. Yes, I am fully updated – every day :) BTW after installing HP printer packages then quickly uninstalling them ...

Re: Name (and width) of "Owner" column (in French) - or perhaps just translation, but where? - 2nd attempt

Hi Ludo, welcome back This OAP pensioner just searched root for ‘owner’ which gave 14 results Perhaps you could search user or root for seulement or seulement* ? The words within "Seulement le propriétaire" must exist somewhere downstream from the user folder? As to how to modify the confi...

Re: How can I make sure (in the config files) that pcmanfm does not attempt to mount anything

Hi Moon, Have you got gvfs installed? More important - have you got udisks2 installed with polkitd https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/udisks/ also see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PCManFM With Synaptic PM you could mark pcmanfm for reinstallation which should restore config files to stand...

AntiX-23 LXDE = SAFE – Simple AntiX Fast Efficient Pt:2

A sense of relief prevails as the excess-baggage has been thrown overboard or more kindly; environments surplus to requirements jettisoned :) https://imgur.com/a/9TbXA4m We still have to evolve the menu from being the Debian Swiss Army Knife into a menu that is focused on useful for regular everyday...

Re: AntiX-23 LXDE = SAFE – Simple AntiX Fast Efficient Pt:1

Oooops! You may be wondering why there are two Trisquel LXDE screenshots in the imgur link https://imgur.com/a/9TbXA4m They show the origins of miniMAX back in 2021 getting 112MB RAM used. I deliberately bloated it with many mega apps to try and break it but it kept on performing faultlessly. Later...

AntiX-23 LXDE = SAFE – Simple AntiX Fast Efficient Pt:1

The objective here is to install antiX-23 keeping it SAFE :) To avoid the designed by committee criticism feel aimed at the multifarious environments and the Debian Swiss Army Knife applications menu. This is made even more difficult by the plethora of iso distro images currently available followed ...

Double Your Memory – Free

I expect all LXDE and Openbox users have a slight grin, grimace or even outrage at the false claims made by distro devs or tech media regarding being Lightweight? Lightweight, as we know, is a relative term – though I prefer another relative term: Efficient, being somehow more conducive to q...

Re: Promoting LXDE

The trend of distros and browsers becoming more resource-intensive over time can indeed be frustrating for users who prioritize performance and minimalism. Fortunately, there are still lightweight alternatives and strategies to maintain a snappy system. I think we can all agree on this ...? So why ...
