Next generation PCManFM is now under development!

Hi all. Due to some limitations and various hard-to-fix problems in the original pcmanfm, a new project is started. Now I've created a project named libfm. It's a gio-based library used to develop file manager-like programs. http://sourceforge.net/projects/libfm This will be the core of next generat...

Re: in regards to XDG

The former libglade is improved and added to gtk+ as GtkBuilder. The former gnome-vfs is now re-designed, and renamed to glib/gio + gvfs. Gtk+ now depends on glib/gio, and works much better if gvfs is present. Gnome print is now replaced by GtkPrint. Not all of these changes are bad. Some libs added...

LXPanel xkb applet (keyboard switcher) calls for help

Hi all, I add a new branch named lxpanel-xkb in our svn repo. svn co https://lxde.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lxde/branches/lxpanel-xkb It's a new applet for lxpanel which will be a keyboard layout switcher. The original one in lxpanel is broken, and will be removed. The new one will be based on lib...

Please join xdg mailing list if you can.

If you don't like to be forced to use Gnome standards, please join xdg mailing list to let them hear you. The current standard/specifications followed by most of the major UNIX desktop enviromnents, such as Gnome, KDE, XFCE, LXDE, and ROX, is called freedesktop.org. See http://www.freedesktop.org/ f...

Re: Autohide, confused

Yes, it's available in later versions of fbpanel. It's not yet ported to lxpanel because lxpanel is now quite different from fbpanel so more work needs to be done. Besides, currently no one has the time to do it. If you know programming or know who can help us, please make a patch for it. Otherwise ...

Re: Vote: Future of PCManFM (Very important!!)

If we're going to use GIO/GVFS (quite possible), maybe we can start a new project aiming at creating a gnome-free fork of GVFS. Maybe it can be named gvfs-lite or gvfs-gf (gf means gnome-free, lol). In this way we have advantages of gio/gvfs, and can get rid of gnome dependencies. Cooperation with X...

Re: Vote: Future of PCManFM (Very important!!)

Many thanks to your post, Juergen. Some good points are addressed. Earlier I just found some importatnt information. Quote Benedikt Meurer (Author of Thunar): > Thunar will use GIO/GVfs, as everything else simply doesn't make sense, > and would be useless duplication of efforts. Please see the origi...

Re: Vote: Future of PCManFM (Very important!!)

If we start using gio/gvfs, that doesn't mean we'll be slow just like current nautilus. On the contrary, if we use ready-made VFS library like gio, we can focus on what we really want to do. Of course, this includes doing optimizations and adding handy new features. In the long run I think this is m...

Vote: Future of PCManFM (Very important!!)

Hi, all LXDE users. After more than two years of development, now LXDE became very active and more and more mature. Recently, some developers joined us, and many new changes were made in our svn repository. However, the core and the origin of the desktop, the file manager, PCManFM, didn't get improv...
