Re: Why many distros have abandoned lxde or changed for lxqt?
Today I wanted to install sparky linux lxde edition but realized that it won't be supported anymore after the current version. Looking for other distro with lxde, lubuntu changed it for lxqt, linux mint abandoned it. Is lxde not being updated? Both Debian and Fedora offer their distros with the LXD...

Re: Revisiting LXDE
The app in question, is independent of LXDE, but I know some distros will include an e-mail app with a particular desktop environment. GTK2 has been around for a long time and wasn't sure if it was eventually going to be deprecated in favor of GTK3. As it currently is, LXDE works perfectly. The e-ma...

Re: Revisiting LXDE
Just want to add that GTK2 is still a maintained GTK version; it exists alongside GTK3. In other words, there's no pressing reason to move away from it. And this is part of a problem I'm having with a particular e-mail app constantly crashing. Although it was determined that X11 is causing the cras...

Re: Revisiting LXDE
Why couldn't Lubuntu offer two images, Lubuntu (the original) and Lubuntu/Qt?
Fedora offers both and I believe there is at least one other distro that does as well.

Re: font corruption and desktop trashed.
When I said kernel related, that could be explained by kernel modules. I also have an onboard NVidia and I have to use nouveau since the proprietory drivers don't support this older GPU any more. ( Wasted days on that one before ). In my experience nouveau (sometimes) does not work so well with old...

Re: font corruption and desktop trashed.
I have an older NVIDIA chip in this, the GeForce 6150SE / nForce 430. The drivers for this chip that had been provided by the RPM Fusion repository, were EOL'd beginning with Fedora 28. It's very easy to disable GLX. In /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ add a file named 01-my-disable-glx.conf and put the follow...

Re: Icons and Fonts
In Fedora, I found a package lxde-icon-theme, which does not install with their default LXDE installation.
It provides the nuoveXT2 icon-theme. The summary describes it as the default icon-theme for LXDE.

Re: font corruption and desktop trashed.
That definitely looks like video corruption. I had that on my other desktop - if it didn't crash completely, if I tried to use Cinnamon, Plasma (KDE), MATE, or XFCE. Unfortunately, there is no safe way to remove most installed desktops without DNF wanting to remove hundreds of other packages and dep...

Re: Icons and Fonts
I was able to successfully remove the Cinnamon desktop on one system,. going to try ti on the other. But KDE/Plasma, unfortunately, not so much. It removed the packages beginning with kde* with others, but when I then attempted to remove all of the plasma* named packages, it wants to remove over 200...
