Re: How do you install LXDE instead of Windows XP
If you want to install a light weight Linux OS, I would suggest Lubuntu. If your goal is merely to replace your XP OS with let's say Lubuntu and use it as your only OS on your computer, it is relatively easy. First: Back up any data, documents, pictures, music that you cannot afford to lose or simpl...

Re: which distribution with lxde
Agree. I too dabbled with Mint for a while before I came to Lubuntu. With that much RAM your machine probably smokes. I have been talking to friends about Lubuntu and the availability of applications. Those with older computers can breath new life into them like I have done with an old Dell. As you ...

Re: which distribution with lxde
LXDE may for older or less powerful computers but nothing says you cannot use it with a newer or more powerful computer. I have it on one of each and am very satisfied especially since all of the Ubuntu applications are technically available for download. Some people are using Lubuntu to get away fr...

Re: does pcmanfm has split view or not?
I enjoyed the split view and have also been able to find any comperable function in PCMan FM. I think we are giving up a little to get a light desktop, but if someone out there has an answer I too would like to know. Installing a bunch of stuff that is going to bloat the system just defeats the purp...

OK. Go to Edit->Preferences and under General change the Bookmarks to Open in a new Window. Is that what you are looking for?

Re: open new pcmanfm instance in new desktop?
Perhaps I didn't understand your post. If I insert a flash drive, a new window will open on that desktop. However, if I want to open another file on a different desktop, I only have to change desktops and open it. Yours does not open like that, buy you want it to do so. Can you move one of the files...

Re: open new pcmanfm instance in new desktop?
Interesting. I have Lubuntu 11.10 (3.0.0.16) on an ASUS EeePC 1000 and I can open mine on two different desk tops. What do you have?

Re: Add categories to the LXDE main menu
So that's where it is. I was trying to use the LXTerminal and it kept on telling me that there was no such file. I guess my fat fingers were not hitting the correct keys in the proper order.

Re: Add categories to the LXDE main menu
Did a quick search and this popped up. I have never used it but I went to the web site and it apparently works.
