Re: does pcmanfm has split view or not?

I do not see the advantage of getting two panes from a two-pane browser and just double clicking a pcmanfm panel icon. The latter instantly brings up 2 copies each with its own menu. The only dual pained browsers that I ever used, admittedly quite awhile ago, shared a menu and required an extra clic...

Re: Changing date format

Time & Date in some installs is in Preferences . Time and Date in the panel can be changed by right clicking and choosing "Digital Clock" Settings . Some of the code is %a week-day [Friday] %b month [Sept] %d day [02] %I:%M:%S time [4:06:59] Other code can be obtained by putting man s...

Re: How can configure my dual monitor in lubuntu

A small GUI exists for doing this: Arandr . You can install it from Synaptic. If it doesn't work, try Grandr . Arandr will save the setting in a hidden folder .screenlayout. You will have to add the .sh to startup. See http://douwil7.100webspace.net/linux/Tuning.html#16 for additional information.

You have to install package apt-xapian-index
Thanks for being constructive, mick823. Now, I'm ready for that damn drop-down box if it occurs in a future install.

Re: Lubuntu 11.10 is here so what do you think?

MMTMM: Maybe we did different installations; I installed the 64-bit Lubuntu 11.10. I can assure you that I tried it for several days (both times), that I am not a liar and that quite likely the problems encountered are not because of my computer because those problems are not encountered with other ...

Re: [REQUEST] PCManFM improvements

Both of these can be easily achieved with pcmanfm. See http://lxlinux.com for the general picture. In Mint and Lubuntu (I think) Terminal and any application in the main menu can be added to the desktop by right clicking the name in the menu.

Re: Lubuntu 11.10 is here so what do you think?

I have tried Lubuntu 11.10 on two different laptops now. It is fast and I could live with it, but it is not as stable as Mint LXDE. So I'll stick with Mint. Some of the things that bugged me on Lubuntu: (1)No power manager with screen brightness control available. (2)Screwed up search-tool in Synap...

Re: How I can change brightness?

Xfce has an applet included in xfce4-power to change the brightness of the monitor. I have tried to open this applet when I was logged in LXDE what doesn't work. Do you know another tool to change the brightness? Gnome-power-control adjusts brightness and works in Linux Mint LXDE, but I have had no...
