I would not handle this with gdm, because it is not an specific thing for gdm to switch DPI, it is more an X point.
You could add
to /etc/X11/xorg.conf int the Monitor Section.
That should solve your problem.

Hmm, xorg.conf is replaced/going to be replaced by HAL in some distros.
I would start using HAL.

Flash? What about testing a real sound/video file with a player? Flash is ever causing problems with GNU/Linux. Flash 10 works beautifully on my Debian Squeeze but that's not the point. nano /etc/conf.d/net Works best and fastest and I get the results I expect. Every manager seems to have some differences with my box and is preventing me from connecting.
