Re: Promoting LXDE
Good question. LXDE is readily available as an option on many distros' installers, or at least in the repositories. But ever since Lubuntu dropped LXDE in favour of LXQt people have been claiming that LXDE is "dead". I guess what LXDE would really need are more distros dedicated to it . OT...

Re: Fresh install on RPi lxpannel not filling screen
Hi, so I installed LXDE on a lite install of raspberry pi os on a RPi4. Everything looks good except the task bar. Screen shot attached. I can't get it to cover the whole bottom of the screen, and its just all black in some parts. How do I get it to show normally? I already tried going to panel set...

Re: LXPanel random missing icons
Please try to start lxpanel from the command line. Then please show us the configuration file (in my case it would be ~/.config/lxpanel/default/panles/panel). Then please tell us where the .desktop files in the launchbar section are located. Is it possible they're on a slow (external) hard drive tha...

Re: Editing Menu with PCManFM
I didn't know that actually. But then I don't really use pcmanfm's xdg menu. Generally for XDG menus: Removing items (making them invisible) is a little tricky; adding new ones is as simple as dropping a properly formatted .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications. But hey, thanks, that's a usefu...

Re: Changing Mint XFCE to LXDE
I just gave up on Manjaro. There were a few more on the list I made, plus a link to distrowatch, and the old LXDE wiki. Lots of stuff for you to go through. Generally what I'm hearing from you is "I want it exactly just the right way for me, but I don't want to go through any hassle to get tha...

Re: Changing Mint XFCE to LXDE
You might want to look at other distros then - distros that don't come with a lot of bloat preinstalled. If the .iso should already have LXDE the options are not so big*, but if you generally want something lightweight that runs on old hardware, there's a lot to choose from: https://distrowatch.com/...

Distributions with LXDE installation images (2022)
Since Lubuntu switched to LXQt it's not so easy to find a distro that actually features LXDE. This list is by no means complete, please feel free to suggest more - if it has a downloadable installation medium that already contains a preconfigured LXDE, post it here! That said, there's many, many dis...

Re: Remove network icon from systray
That is a "Simple bridge between colord and X" - I cannot imagine it would generate the type of icon you speak of.
The icon OP refers to might of course be NetworkManager's nm-applet.

Re: Probably should have been posting here
I don't think LXDE or Openbox rely on Compton, but again, I'm not 100% sure so have never tried removing it. If shadows and half-transparent windows are important to you, keep it (and make sure it's running), but really you don't need a compositor at all. Christ, why is all that * installed by defa...
