Re: Newby question
I just installed LXDE over Mint 12 64-bit, which produced 7 distinct desktops, and then installed some applications while running LXDE as the desktop. All newly installed and already installed applications showed up in all desktops. Menus and controls were a mixed bag.

Re: Very large spacing in the system tray
Put a checkmark in a spacer box to put a big space there, leave the spacer there without the box checked to put a small space there, move the spacer to another position to put essentially no space there....adjust your spacers as you see fit.

Re: Accessing files & icons on Desktop

Re: Why can't I install ".deb" files?
It is easiest to install from the Synaptic Repository. The applications you mentioned should be in there. For directly installing a .deb files you need either gdebi or dpkg, again both can be installed via Sy.

Re: which distribution with lxde
Hi Rex. I think we are on the same page. The question is "Which Distribution with LXDE", and my main points were (1)Get one that offers the biggest possible Repository; and (2) Get one that philosophically and action-wise supports LXDE as a bonafide desktop for any computer. With that crit...

Re: which distribution with lxde
All linux systems suffer in comparison with Microsoft Windows in regard to applications. For me the computer is first and foremost a tool rather than a toy. Therefore, the size of the applications repository is my first consideration. It appears to me that Lubuntu and Mint win out in this regard. I ...
