How do you special Assign shortcut keys in LXDE?
Hi! This is probably a basic thing, but I'm still trying to familiarize myself with LXDE, now that I have Lubuntu 11.10 on my laptop. I would like to be able to special assign some short-cut key combinations that I rather like. I figured that out in Xfce, but not LXDE. I would like, for example, to ...

[SOLVED] Keyboard Layout Switching in Lubuntu
Hi there! I've got Lubuntu 11.10 installed on my laptop and I've almost got things sorted out for switching keyboard layouts. First thing is; I've put the Keyboard Switcher applet on the main panel, so I can see what keyboard layout is selected. So far so good. But I need to be able to switch around...

Keyboard Applet (help, please!)
Hi there! I was wondering if anyone can help me with the keyboard applet thing. I am using Mint 10 LXDE and Peppermint One OS, and quite like LXDE on the whole. I'm using both as persistent installs on a pair of USB-HDD's. The only thing I just can't seem to get sorted out is the keyboard selector. ...

Re: Dropbox opens with web browser?????
Hi, you have to patch xdg-open, to fix this. This helped me. But this isn't easy for new users, make a backup first and if you don't know what to do, ask. maces I was so tired from working nights I forgot all about this post (amongst others). Anyway, I did get Dropbox working on LXDE, thanks to a s...

Keyboard driver for Polytonic Greek (HELP!)
Hi there! So far, I've not had much luck in trying to get drivers to allow me to type anything in Polytonic Greek. That would be fore assignments and quotes in Ancient Greek. And that's not the same as Modern Greek with minimal accents, this is the one with lots of accents. I had no problem getting ...

Re: Mobile Broadband Issues with Lubuntu 10.04
Could be, but it's more likely, that this are driver issues. maces I've of given up on Lubuntu as a live install. It seems Lubuntu does have issues as a persistent install on a USB device. Not the least of which was that virtually nothing appears on the Main Menu. And all that does appear there is ...

Re: Can you make a Swap Partition?
Hi, deepening on how much RAM the computers, you use the LIVE-USB with, have. Keep in mind that SWAP is much slower than RAM, as it is on HDD. USB-drives are even slower than normal HDD's, due USB2.0. This means when your system begins to swap, or access data from swap, it's getting slow. maces Hi ...

[Solved] Can you make a Swap Partition?
Hi! I have three live/persistent installs of LXDE systems on USB-HDDs: one apiece for Lubuntu, Peppermint OS and Mint 9 LXDE. They're all on 320 GB portable drives. I've partitioned them so that 80 GB is for the LXDE OS live install and the remaining 240 GB is another partition dedicated to storing ...

Re: Mass converting of sound files to OGG format (?)
Someone on the Peppermint OS site told me the solution; the Python scrip thing called dir2ogg . I've been using it to convert my m4a files to OGG files and it seems to work just fine. Of course, I didn't read the directions first (where's the fun in that, eh?) and it took me a while to figure out ho...

Re: Mobile Broadband Issues with Lubuntu 10.04
Hi, I guess you are using Networkmanager? This software isn't part of LXDE, you might get more help in your distributions forum with this question. maces I take it Networkmanager is run through that icon that shows the connection to the Internet on the control panel? It just seems odd that I've had...
