Re: font corruption and desktop trashed.
Hi drooly, As I detailed above it happens with recent kernels and not with the earlier ones. When changing that one variable I can turn the bug on / off. That seems to me like a clear indication it's kernel related. Let me know if you find another logic. The window in the middle of the screenshot is...

font corruption and desktop trashed.
Last year I had this issue and it seemed to disappear at some point without any obvious reason. Not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I just got on with life. Now it's come back with a vengeance. Some programs like libreoffice and Opera (aka Chrome) trigger this bug and trash my LX suite ...

have I got a malware?
A while ago I found this odd blank entry in the sessions setup tool. I have not been able to find anyone who knows what it is. The UI tool must be reading from somewhere. How can I track it down? TIA. I just spotted that maybe I should have put this under LX components. Please move across if that ma...

Re: font corruption makes LXDE become unusable.
thanks for the confirmation. You pointed me to some instructions from Arch , which advised not using the NVidia *.run files. After my last experience, I can sympathise with that but Arch seems to use a build system similar to Gentoo and that does not apply to rpm based systems. Do I have an alternat...

It appears that I got the wrong line. Does 304.xx agree with what you find? How does that relate to the "code names"?The 304.xx driver supports the following set of GPUs:

Re: font corruption makes LXDE become unusable.
Thanks for those links, it appears that legacy 390.xx should work. However, about a year ago I tried the NVidia .run file and it just crapped out half way through with no coherent reason and left with a right mess to clean up by hand. In the ensuing discussion here, someone told me that my GPU was n...

Re: font corruption makes LXDE become unusable.
One problem at a time please. If you didn't get a reply earlier, there's probably a good reason for it. And no, I don't think it's related (although I didn't fully understand). I mentioned that because an unknown service is not being started with the session. I have no way of knowing what it is and...
