unable to install lxde on debian lenny - no dockbar

hello everybody,
I am a newbie of lxde, and I am very curios of this project. I'm trying to install a debian lenny version wih lxde on a virtual machine, but if I try to install it directly with lenny's installer or if I try to install a minimal lenny and then install lxde (that should be my option), it never works as I was expected it to do. well, I log in and I have the lxde desktop and option connected with right click on desktop, but I can't see any panel or dockbar. could anyone help me?

Does it show up, when you start lxpanel yourself via a terminal or is then an error appearing?
