On a Fanless Amrel RT786 EX Toughbook with 2 Batteries. Whole laptop is a giant heatsink for cooling as you can see in conky temps.

Battery Monitor in taskbar is from Arch Linux. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=67565
I monitor batteries in conky also.
Been running as a rolling release so

Code: Select all

 lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:	Debian
Description:	Debian GNU/Linux testing (wheezy)
Release:	testing
Codename:	wheezy
I get 8 hours out of the batteries on this Laptop running AntiX. I run Icewm and Fluxbox mostly. Just broadening my knowledge with setting up a LXDE Desktop.

In case you are wondering what Pianobar is

http://6xq.net/projects/pianobar/

I had to compile it myself as Debian Sid even does not have this version number released yet.

Pandora radio broke pianobar today. I fixed it just now compiling a new pianobar 11.09-dev from github from source file.

I am uploading my zipped pianobar folder with the new bin file "pianobar" that I compiled from source in my folder. Sorry guys. USA users only (pandora blocks overseas users). Uninstall any pianobar you may have installed through your package manager.

If a static install. Delete the folder from /opt or /home where you installed the pianobar. .09.22 folder.

Unzip mine in /home or /opt. Symlink the the pianobar bin in my folder to /usr/bin (I use rox filer and used a relative sysmlink instead of absolute).

Code: Select all

roky@biker:~$ pianobar

libmad, libfaad, libao must be installed through your distros package manager also for this to work. You must have a pandora radio account also.

Just for grins. This is my Motorcycle Shop Desktop that runs Fluxbox with LxPanel on AntiX 11 Base i686 with a Liqourix Kernel. It flies like you would not believe.

New kernel plus added Spacefm file manager also. Stll current apps. This Hard drive on this laptop is just for tweaking/testing and playing. I run AntiX 12 with Icewm on my other hot swap hard drive as testing till AntiX 12 reaches final release status. The kernel I am using plus spacefm plus Iceweasel should be coming in the default install of AntiX 12 (though we might go with a 3.5 kernel later maybe).

This is just to show that Lubuntu is not the only choice out there when wanting to run LXDE. I did this though as a core iso install back in 2010. Which is like doing a Debian Net install or Ubuntu minimal CD install. There is no end of life when running Debian testing or unstable like there is in Lubuntu. I can be running this install till the hard drive dies with support from Debian Testing and unstable repos. ;)
