In pcmanfm --desktop when the window manager (openbox in my case) is given control of the mouse button menus,
the right mouse button works as expected. However the center mouse button transfers control to openbox
for a short time and then cuts off this control. Not good for use of pcmanfm --desktop under openbox!
I am using pcmanfm 1.2.5 under Arch Linux.
The problem does not exist with pcmanfm-qt.
I don't have the authority to post this to the bugtracker.

I am not sure why you do not have authority to submit a bug report. That doesn't make sense.

Anyone can submit a bug report.

Re: window manager control of mouse button menus
Hmm.... I see two possibilities:
1. Unless you are using Debian "testing", pcmanfm is probably not the current
version, but considerably older. This problem developed for me recently (in the
past couple of months) though I cannot pin down exactly when, suggesting
that the bug was introduced recently.
2. The middle button pulls up the openbox menu initially when I login, but fails
to do so after a certain amount of activity involving the file manager. (Sorry I
can't be more specific, it is pretty random.)

not saying you're imagining this, but before you claim it's a bug, you should do some troubleshooting. a good starting point might be the xorg and openbox logs.
Re: window manager control of mouse button menus
Not sure what you are asking, but Sections 2 and 4 in http://www.lxlinux.com discuss configuring pcmanfm for controlling or not controlling the desktop. The main advantages to having pcmanfm control the desktop is to use pcmanfm --desktop-pref to control wallpaper and to be able to have desktop icon app launchers.
