GTK Bug Affects PCManFM

Post by IgnorantGuru »

There is a bug in GTK 2.20 that is crippling both the old and new versions of PCManFM (as well as Thunar), when these are used in detailed-view mode with double-clicking. My mod of 0.5.2 now includes a fix for this, and I also posted a patch. I haven't look at the pcmanfm2 code, but that patch will probably work similarly. Other related links:

I was under the impression a workaround had been implemented in libfm's git repo:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... omments/22

...but can't confirm as i'm not running the new pcmanfm (yet).

Nice to see it's fixed in your 0.5.2 mod, hopefully now I can un-hold the libgtk packages and I can go pull that ~3 week old snapshot of debian testing repo out of my sources.list...

(Or just install Arch, since I'm becoming increasingly unhappy with how far Sid/Experimental lags being Arch/AUR with some of the software i use ;) )

I tested pcmanfm2 git version yesterday and it did not exhibit the gtk problem, so apparently it has been patched.

I highly recommend Arch. My strategy has been to keep a fairly recent partition backup so I can roll the system back if an update goes too bad. For the most part I've had very good results. Isolated breakage here and there but the solution is usually quickly available too. I like the approach much better than Ubuntu, whose use of backports and modding software introduces many problems. I prefer Arch's use of the latest upstream versions with no or minimal modifications. Of course when there is an upstream bug, like this gtk bug, you'll be among the first to know!
