Problem with "detail view"

Post by puch666 »

Hello,
I found a silly design problem in pcmanfm.
If you use the detail view (is the view that I always use) and you're viewing a directory that have a lot of files, there's no way to select the context menu "New->Folder" or "New->empty file".
This happens because there's no way to make a clic with the right button without clic on a file. You can't clic on a empty space. This doesn't occurs in the icon view, because there's a gap between the icons.

Look at these captures:

Here you can right clic in the empty space to select the option "new" in the context menu.

Here you can't. Because there isn't empty space and no gap between the files.

A solution could be add a little gap between each file, or at the end of the file list.
Or you can put fixed in the "file" menu the "new" option.
So [file]->[New]->[folder]/ [empty file]

I hope that you can understand what I mean. The english isn't my natural language and, sometimes, is hard for me try to explain something so trivial.
By the way, I'm using 0.9.9 version, but the problem was present in early versions too.

Thank you and you're making a great job with pcmanfm and all LXDE components.

Regards.

I had the same problem and used the mkdir command instead.
at least there the "open terminal here" features in the tools menu and F4 key, but I agree on the total lack of file operations in the file menu.

As it turns out this already has been fixed by adding an item to the file menu.
