Can I use the PcManFM on Ubuntu and CentOS (both with Gnome) as well?
Or is PcManFM absolutely tied to LXDE?
If it is possible: How exactly can I install them over there?

PCmanFM is in Ubuntus software center/repositories in Ubuntu.
Below is a 64bit rpm package of pcmanfm for centOS, If running 32 bit CentOS. Don't install it.
