For very small screen, it's impossible to keep the side pan. But it's useful to move in the tree or in the list of devices.
An idea it's to open the side pan with the current tool button, but when an entry is selected in the side pan, this one is closed to give all the space to the file browser.
What do you think about that?

Re: side pan automaticly closed - future request
Hi
That's a good idea. I would suggest, that this can be done with shortcuts as well, I love shortcuts on small screens . Fell free to add a future request on LXDE's future request tracker.

This is good one but the same thing you can achieve thro' F9 function key to hide and unhide the side pan.
Re: side pan automaticly closed - future request
Yes for F9 but, you look at the use on PC only. I would like to see the use on very small device (smartphone, PDA, netbook...)
The keyboard is limited, and the UI has to be as intuitive as possible.
