It does - but it applies to ALL executables - both shellscripts and .desktop files - what is needed is separate options for each type of executable so that for instance shellscripts bring up the executable dialogue but .desktop files do not.....

Or there could be an option that could be put into a .desktop file to stop the dialogue - e.g.

Executable_dialog=No

There is already a test that any .desktop files that happen to reside in /usr/share/applications are exempt from the executable dialogue....
