Include symbols in sort?

Post by Vextaur »

The subject says it all, my computer use is rooted in the Mac system, and as such, one of my habits is using symbols at the beginning of folder names to force them to the beginning of the sort when sorting by name. The problem is that most Linux file managers ignore symbols.

With that said, while on an LxQT install, I installed a few KDE Kwin components, and suddenly PCManQT started including symbols in the sort. From what I understand the QT version is a fork, so this could be unique to it, but I was hoping that whatever I changed there by accident could be changed intentionally on my current i3 install that's running the standard PCManFM.

So, short version, is it possible to change the name sort parameters?

I doubt there's much we can do about it, but can you clarify what symbols you are refering to and how you would like them to sort?
have you also tried options in Menu => Sort...???

Include symbols in sort

Is there a way to use the functionality of SKIPREC=n but not omit the record from the output file.
Sample Input:
999
444
333
111
222

Desired Output:
999
111
222
333
444
