Start new session.

Post by rich_c »

I've got LXDE installed on a couple of older machines, based on SimplyMepis 8.5. (I aptitude installed from the Debian Lenny repos & it works great!) What I'd like to be able to do is start a new session. ctrl+alt+f7 --> ctrl+alt+f8 for example. I may well be missing something but is this possible? :?

VT switching is mostly accomplished by parts of the system that LXDE does not supply. This question would be best directed to your distro, since we don't know what your display manager or video hardware is.

Having upgraded from Lenny repositories to Squeeze, an option to switch user/start new session has now appeared in the logout options. :D

One possible way to start a new session (works for me with current Ubuntu 11.04 da8ily build):
1. Switch to a console (say <Ctl><Alt><F1>) and log in
2. Start a new X session:

Code: Select all

startx -- :1
